Re: harassment

A federal law called the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act governs debt collectors, and regulates what they may and may not do to collect a debt.

One of the best ways to stop such calls is to send a written notice to the collector by regular AND certified mail, keeping a copy for your records, and specifically stating that pursuant to the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, you request the collector not contact you any more by telephone (specify the phone number) or in any other manner.

You might recite briefly, as well, the pertinent facts, including that you already had to change your telephone number once, and that if the harrassment does not stop you may take legal action.

That should do it, but if not feel free to give me a call or send an email and we can discuss other options.
