Legal Question in Family Law in Rhode Island

My ex-girlfriend took our 5 year old daughter to NH on her weekend without telling me she was taking her out of state. We have joint custody and she's the custodial parent. What are my rights?

Your rights depend on what order the Court may have in effect concerning the child.

If the Court order awarding joint custody, with primary placement with your ex-girlfriend, does not restrict out of state travel, then you may have no basis to object.

If you feel strongly that your ex should not take your and her daughter out of RI, then you could petition the Court to restrict such travel in the future, but you had better have good reason.
