Legal Question in Family Law in Rhode Island

final judgement in regards to property settlement

i, the defendant, was awarded all rights, title and interest in and to the marital domicile. i was to make a ''reasonable attempt'' to refinance the mortgage to take the plantiffs name off the mortgage whitin 1 year. that was 3 years ago and i have not been able to as of yet. i am still trying. the plaintiff wants to take me to court to take his name off the mortgage. i have no place to go. can he make me sell my home? it was my family home and i am struggling to keep it. can i get an extention of trying to refinance? the house has been quick claim deeded to me already. thank you in advance for any answer and/or advice you can give.

Re: final judgement in regards to property settlement

If you can show the court that you made reasonable efforts to refinance the property pursuant to the terms of the agreement but were unable to refinance despite your best efforts then you will not be forced to sell the house. Please call me to set up a free initial consultation.
