Legal Question in Immigration Law in Rhode Island

Accident responsibility

If an illegal alien is involved in a car accident resulting in damage over $1000 in RI, he/she will receive a safety responsibility form.

What are the implications of completing that form? Will that information be used againist the person in question?

Will that information be shared with the INS? What could happen?

Thank you.

Re: Accident responsibility

You may wish to direct this question to an attorney in Rhode Island. You may search the directory of the American Immigration Lawyers Association at www.aila.org for an attorney in your area.

Generally, the Immigration Service has access to many data bases that it uses when conducting background checks; however, it would be unlikely that a civil matter like a car accident would bring a person to the attention of the Immigration Service unless it evolved into a criminal matter.
