Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Rhode Island

Toe Amputation

My father is a diabetic. he has to have his toe nails cut by a podiatrist, and te last time the podiatrist cut them, he cut his foot. This resulted in an infection, and eventual amputation of the toe and part of the foot (he has very poor circulation and is prone to infection). I want to sue the podiatrist and the hospital it happened in. How/can I do that??

Re: Toe Amputation

The short answer is you must get a lawyer to review this matter for you. A medical malpractice case is by far one of the most difficult cases there is to pursue. You should also know that the mere existence of a bad result does not automatically mean that someone did something wrong. I handle medical malpractice cases and always begin them with a thorough review of the medical records to determine if the doctors conduct fell below the standard of care for the particular procedure. Then and only then can a determination be made whether the injury was a result of negligence or simply a bad and unfortunate result. Feel free to contact me directly.
