Legal Question in Personal Injury in Rhode Island

Ebook Insurance

For ''How-To'' ebooks regarding diet, health and excercise, what type of insurance coverage can you recommend to protect oneself against possible recourse from individuals claiming any type of personal injury from said ''How-To'' ebook. This is even though the ebook may already contain a disclaimer or legal notice in it.

Thank you in advance for your recommendations.

Re: Ebook Insurance

Your question requires much more information to adequately answer. However, in a general sense before we get to insurance coverage we first look into the business form itself to determine whether a corproation or LLC is necessary. We seperate the individual from the conduct that may be claimed as negligent and hence result in a lawsuit. Corporations and LLC's are entities in and of themselves and therefore must be sued directly. The shareholder, officers and directors are generally not held responsible for the acts of the corporation or LLC. The second issue to address before insurance coverage is the drafting of a clear, express and comprehensive disclaimer for users of the book. Remember also that if you obatin any information from any individuals then your site must have a written information use policy. After these issues are effectively dealt with then we look into potential liability and appropriate insurance coverage. This is certainly an issue we have handled many times before, please feel free to contact our office for further assistance
