Impermissable Deductions from Salary

Can an employer deduct from salary for working half days?,can an employer change your salary to make deductions, is it legal to not show deductions on paycheck?.Can an employer make such deductions without an verbal/written notification before hand. Is this legal to perform all the time???.What does it mean when an employer say's he has to do it to be fair to other employee's.

Your question is too vague for me to answer. However, South Carolina has a statute concerning deductions which can be made from your salary with your written permission. There are some deductions which can not be made even with your written permission. These statutes are in place to keep employers from over reaching as to employees, to level the bargining power of the employee from being overpowered by the employer. Go to see a lawyer about your rights. There may be civil damages in addition to the money owed to you for any wrongful withholding as well as attorney's fees and costs which may be recoverable. Be prepared to tell the attorney what amount was deducted and for what.
