Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in South Carolina

Court Order

I am currently being suied by a law firm that purchased an old debt that was originally owed by Sears Dept Store. The statue of limitation of 3 years, here in Columbia, South Carolina has passed. Can this law firm enforce this debt.

Once the statute of limitations has run, then the debt cannot be legally enforced through the court system. Unless the debtor acknowledged the debt, the expiration of the statute of limitations is a defense to the lawsuit.
