Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in South Carolina

Student Loan

I co-signed for my son's student loan. Three months later he dropped out of college and spent the tuition refund from the college. Can I have his wages garnished in order to make the monthly payments on his student loan? He has broken off all communications with me because he knows I expect him to make the payments. I am currently making the payments and the loan is in good standing. Are there any rights a parent has? It almost seems like fraud, I'm not sure he ever planned on staying in college, he simply took the money an ran. Thanks

Re: Student Loan

You will need to file a lawsuit and then obtain a judgment against him in order to garnish wages, apply liens, etc
