Legal Question in Criminal Law in South Carolina

25 year old warrent

My brother got messed up with drugs and got in a bar fight and was arrested,well they said it was mugging and he got scared and left the state.since in 91 and 92 he was arrested for 2 dui'''''s but the warrent never came up.It has been 25 years now,is the warrent gone or what?Can he go back to that state?

First of all, I am not sure what state your referring to, which makes answering your question more difficult. Secondly, I'm not sure what the exact charge is your referring to which also makes it difficult to answer your question. There is no way to automatically tell you if the warrant is still in existence or not. There is a public policy issue with dismissing warrants due to the fact that the prosecution does not like to reward people for evading the law. The best thing that your brother can do is to contact an attorney in that state who can get whatever information he/she needs and try and contact the authorities and see if they can find out if that warrant still exists.
