Legal Question in Criminal Law in South Carolina

Careless Driving defenses

My story begins the day before my traffic ticket. I hurt my back and was perscribed an anti-inflamatory and a mild muscle relaxer. The incident begins with the car in front of me stopping short on this access road the road was wet and i have abs brakes so when I tried to avoid the car for safety sake I veered to the right. I ended on the grass with my front bumper in line with their back door (I avoided an accident). Not wanting to be on the grass any longer I proceeded on the grass 10-15 feet and reentered the road at which time I was pulled over and given a careless driving ticket. I was polite. My question is do I have any reasonable defense to remove this violation for my records the court date is Jan. 6, 1998

"Keep Off The Grass" does not apply to emergency

There is something called the "Defense ofNecessity" or the "Emergency Exception" whichessentially says that if you had to do (whatever)to prevent a greater harm, then it isn't a crime. This would depend upon whether you were following too close in the first place or not.
