Legal Question in Criminal Law in South Carolina

Old Felony Warrant

I recently was pulled over in my ''home state.'' The cop informed me that I have an outstanding ''felony'' warrant from South Carolina. Evidently the warrant is non-extradictable from as far away as I am currently living. I am pretty sure that the warrant is for a bad check I wrote in 2000 or 2001. The check was for under 300 bucks. I don't have any intention of returning to South Carolina, ever. I would like to get this warrant off of my NCIC record though. Other than going to South CArolina and ''turning myself in'' is there someway to get this resolved?

Re: Old Felony Warrant

Its possible to get the warrant dismissed, but unlikely. You said the bad check was for $300. "Felony" warrants are issued for checks in excess of $1,000, so your information might not be correct. Its possible that the victim of the bad check could be paid whatever amount is owed to them and the solicitor could dismiss the warrant. Your best bet would be to consult with an attorney in the county in which the warrant was issued. Good luck.
