Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

Child Custody no legal agreement

My son's mother moved to another city and will not give me the address or new home phone number. She will not answer my calls on her cell phone, her mothers cell phone or her fathers. Her mother and father are helping her. We have never had a legal agreement but I do pay child support for my son like clockwork. This is not the first time she has kept me from talking to or seeing my boy. What can I do in SC.

Re: Child Custody no legal agreement

You can check with the child support office to get the address that the checks are being sent to obtain her address. You could also use this opportunity to seek custody if you wish to do so. If you don't want to go that route, you should at least file an action to have visitation established, so that she cannot continue to jerk you around without repercussions.

These are complex issues, and it is important that they be handled correctly. Therefore, it is important that you consult an experienced family law attorney to find out what options are available to you based on the facts of your particular case.

If you need more information, you can visit my family law blog (www.SCFamilyLaw.com) or our website (www.StevensFirm.com). I wish you the best of luck.
