If I have never been served do i have to go to court?

One of the prerequisites for a case going forward in any Court is for the opposing party to be properly served. However, if the other side cannot locate you, it is possible in some situations to serve you by publication in the newspaper, which could result in you being properly served and not necessarily knowing it. Of course, if you haven't been served, then you would have no way of even knowing if there was a hearing scheduled.
