Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

I live in S.C. I am legally seperated pending divorce cause I have to wait a year until final. Husband moved to WI and racked up 21000.00 in debt. In the seperation papers he signed the home over to me as sole owner. Can his debts take my home or make me take out a mortgage to pay his debt? the home is paid for and has been for 4 years.

If you have an agreement that was approved by the Court and included in an Order, then the terms of that Order will control. If your agreement was not approved, then it becomes less clear.

These are complex issues, and it is important that they be handled correctly. Therefore, it is important that you consult an experienced family law attorney to find out what options are available to you based on the facts of your particular case.
