Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

Need to know my rights in SC when divorce is asked for but not wanted

Two years ago after 20 years of marriage my husband told me he wasnt' happy. I made many attempts to change his mind in the last two years. Today I was told he would pay me off to leave and I don't want to go. We have 2 children, 17 and 13. I was clueless until 2 years ago that he was unhappy with the marriage. I don't think I am the one that needs to leave. He has always worked long hours. He has little involvement in the raising of the kids and now he wants me to leave and he really wants me to leave the kids. We live in a modest house on Lake Murray in SC. I don't want to leave my house of 22 years, just because he is unhappy. What are my rights. I know I am entitled to 50% of everything but I don't want to leave. His family gave him the lake lot before we got married. He originally had 5,000.00 to put into a used double wide trailor to place on the lot. We then built a house. OUR house.

help me please!

I sounds as if you need advice from a local lawyer. If you will contact me direct I will refer you to one in the Columbia area.

You have rights which you must protect. I suspect your situation is better than you think.
