Legal Question in Civil Litigation in South Carolina

Recently, I found out that my driver's license had been suspended for 1yr for failing to pay a previous traffic ticket during a traffic stop. My question is why in the state of SC do one have to pay the $650 and do the 30 day jail time? I really and truly believe that it should be either/or.

You have either recieved some incorrect information or you have made a mistake reading the law. The penalty for a Driving Under Suspension First Offense does NOT require that a person pay a fine AND go to jail. I would suggest contacting an attorney have having a live conversation about your situation.
