Legal Question in Personal Injury in South Carolina

mothers death

my mother fell coming out of a neighbors house tripping on a mat outside the door fell down the steps an cracked her skull an passed away...... they have owners insureance as i understand an good insureance but have come to find out they are letting it cancel on the 14th due to money problems

would i have any case with my mothers fall an passing because of a rug?

You certainly could. I depends on the details of the fall. Was the rug loose, the entrance unlighted, or other such facts. It would be very important to try to get some statements from witnesses as to what actually happened. Pictures would be a great help.

Insurance now cancelling would not have an effect if it was in force at time of the fall.

First of all, I am sorry for your loss. You most certainly may have legal recourse with respect to your mother's fall. Even if there is no direct liability there is the possiblitiy of other insurance money. You do not have to worry about them letting the policy being cancelled. As long as the policy was in effect when the accident occurred that is all that counts. Please understand that there are some things that should be looked into immediately.
