Legal Question in Personal Injury in South Carolina

nasty fall down stairs w/o handrails in S.C. rental

I am 41 y.o.a and had a nasty fall from the stairs just outsaide my rental apartment. The fall resulted in a broken/fractured foot and several torn ligiments requiring surgery. The stairs had no handrails and im pretty sure this is required by the city, county or state code of landlords. Can someone help me with some answers and possible representaion in this most unfortunate happening. (it gets worse b/c the hospital and drs took an entire month to realize the extent of my injury! can you believe that in this day and age? 30 days)

You probably have a case. I would have to obtain more information from you but it seems that most states have building department regulations resulting in that being a violation. A material issue is whether the landlord had notice of the lack of handrails.
