Deeded to minors

Can real property, in the State of South Carolina, be deeded to minors without being held by a parent or guardian in trust or as custodian?

It can be done, but it causes some real and practical problems. The minor cannot deed the property to a third person without court approval.

It would be helpful if you would explain why a trust is not acceptable.
