What can you do when you have a landlord from He**

I know we can move but She said,''she had to raise the rent because she got a water bill for 395.00. Water is suppose to be furnished.Now she wants keys to our homes so she can inspect when she wants.Help We know its wrong and instead of running we want to fight.Thanks,Debbee

Do you have a written lease? If so, that would govern the rental agreement provided it complies with the South Carolina Residential Landlord Tenant Act. Why was the water bill so high? If you rent from month to month, the landlord would probably have to give you 30 days notice of the rent increase. If you have a lease, the landlord would not be able to raise the rent unless the lease provided for such. The landlord does have the right to make inspections of the premises during business hours, unless you have a lease that provides otherwise. The landlord wants keys to the homes so I must assume there are more than one unit.
