Legal Question in Traffic Law in South Carolina

Missed Court Date for Invalid Citation

I misread a citation and missed the court date. The violation was SC-56-10-225, ''No proof of Insurance''. I found my insurance card while the officer was writing the ticket and showed it when he returned. He told me to show it to the judge. When I realized I'd missed the court date (date was yesterday), I called the clerk's office and was told the case had been tried in my absence and sent to Columbia and there was nothing they could do. Is there any way to get this retried or dropped? Help!
