Legal Question in Real Estate Law in South Dakota

house title

We have been married 3 years and were both married before. I did not put his name on the title to my house. If ever there was a divorce would he be entitled to anything? Thank you

Re: house title

Dear Newly Married:

In many states, such as Ohio, the law provides that the Spouse is entitled to a one-half interest in real property as a Dower Right.

Check with an experienced Attorney in your state to verify the status of your spouse.

If you're considering divorce, consult counsel ASAP.

Good luck.

Sincerely, J. Norman Stark
