Legal Question in Disability Law in Tennessee

Pregnancy Descrimination?

My wife works as a teacher at a small private school with around 30 employees. Her school terms are split up into three major terms... Spring, Summer, and Fall. She was told recently that should she become pregnant, she will not be allowed to work during the same term as her due date.

For instance, if we become pregnant in March of next year and have a due date of early December, she will be forbidden from working during the September - December term. Is this legal?

Re: Pregnancy Descrimination?

Whether it is legal depends on how they do it and how they treat the "forced leave" and whether or not she is paid for it. This is a very serious situation and she should consult an attorney to help her with this matter.
