Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Tennessee

what can i file

I feel I need to file a Chapter 13 bankruptcy but have a few accounts that have co-signers. Can I leave these 3 accounts out and re-affirm with them. They are con-signed by my mother and I really do not want her to know about this. Will this affect her if I have to include them in the bankruptcy?

Unfortunately, you have to list ALL debts on your bankruptcy petition including the names and addreses of all co-signers. You are swearing under oath to the federal goverment that all the infomation provided in your petition is true and correct. Penalties can be substantial if you intentionally omit creditors. You will be able to reaffirm those debts and not hurt your mother's credit, but she will eventually find out about your bankruptcy. I urge you to seek a reputable attorney in your area and do it right.
