Legal Question in Business Law in Tennessee

Lease Agreements

I had a lease in the mall, for 8 mths, I was relocated to another location in the same premises after 6 mths, the contract i had signed was for the old location 2 mths after being at the new location my business has suffered significantly, I am deciding to terminate my lease and leaving my premises. Can the landlord take any action on me as faras balance of rent as the new location is not the one i had signed for, eventhough the lease states i can be relocated.

Re: Lease Agreements

Quite possibly, it depends on the exact language of the lease agreement. Generally, a downturn in business is not going to be sufficient reason to break the lease.

In a situation like this, you are usually going to want to discuss your situation with the landlord and try to work out some sort of resolution. This will help to prevent future action against you and may reduce your liability exposure.

If you would like to discuss your situation and the possible resolution, you can email me at [email protected]. Thank you.
