Legal Question in Consumer Law in Tennessee

False Information

We recently purchased a vehicle and during the contract negotiation the salesman blatanly changed and ignored our incoming finances and rounded up and entered false information so that our income would meet the criteria for the purchase; we unfortunately signed the contract. The dealer contacted us and said that they could get us for lying to them in order to get the car. So my question is who is at fault and who is the one who could get legally punished?

Re: False Information

The salesman, you claim, blatently twisted the figures regarding your true income in connection with your application for a car loan, and, then ultimately rendered a false or inaccurate figure for your true income which, apparently, then allowed you to be approved (at least initially) for a particular car loan, and which subsequently the dealer is now disavowing and (apparently) threatening you with some kind of sanctions for allegedly falsifying information regarding your true income on the loan application.

The scenario which you've described seems somewhat bizzare. I would suggest that you arrange for a consultation with an attorney who is knowledgeable in consumer law and related financing and who can review the documentation and relevant facts related to this transaction and advise you, accordingly.
