Can IRA's be taken

If a civil case is lost by the defendent, can his IRA money can attacked or taken to be used to pay the damages?

I cannot find a Tennessee appellate case that speaks to this issue. In New Jersey, IRA accounts can be attached to satisfy a judgment in favor of a creditor.
