Legal Question in Criminal Law in Tennessee

My boyfriend and I were just leaving from visiting his family, but before we left, he took a phone call. The police drove past us and then turned around and stopped directly in front of us. He then asked my boyfriend to step out of the car and talked to him for a minute. Then proceeded in taking both of our liscense, searched my car, and after a hour a so, the officers issued us an misdemeanor trespassing citation. Where they then informed us that no trespassing signs were posted. We were not trespassing at all and had no intention of causing harm. What should I do?

Plead not guilty and fight it. Have photographs of the area of the stop and be prepared to prove no signs were present. Try and obtain the dispatch records and the dashboard video camera footage from the stop, if your jurisdiction has them.
