Legal Question in Criminal Law in Tennessee

personal property rights in cohabitation
My mother has been living with a man for seven years. He has supported her financially for the duration. On Tuesday evening she came home to the house that they moved into together 3 years ago to find that all of her belongings had been thrown in boxes by his 19 year old daughter, four of her friends, his ex-wife, and a woman--posing as an attourney. They told her she had to have her things out of the house by yesterday.

I want to know what her rights are with her belongings and if this is breaking the law. I know it is against the law to pose as an attorney. These people packed her things without her knowledge or approval. Altough the home is in his name, I believe that she still has rights.

Based on the information in your question: This is perhaps a wrongful eviction case.

Additionally, although Tennessee is not a Common law marriage state---the Court could find an implied partnership between the parties.

My advise to your mother--- retain an attorney to protect her rights.
