Legal Question in Criminal Law in Tennessee

I had plead guilty a crime in 07 and I am wondering is there a way of getting this off my record. It has caused me a great deal of pain and im unable to obtain a job because of it. I plead guilty because they were talking about sending me to jail so I got scared and plead guilty

As a general rule ... no.

Tennessee allows for expungment ("getting it off your record") only for pretrial or post-trial diversions. If you simply pled guilty, then it is a final conviction and cannot be expunged.

That assumes that the original conviction was valid.

At a minimum, I would go to the clerk's office, get a copy of all your original plea paperwork, than have a consultation with an attorney. The copies should cost you less than $20.00, and a one hour consultation with an attorney might cost $60.00, but if there is any way to set aside your conviction, don't you think it would be worth it?
