Legal Question in DUI Law in Tennessee

I lost my license more than 35 years ago I have had charges since then for driving no license I'm an older man all alone an can't even get myself to the Dr had to take taxi to all my kemo.an radiation an even had to call taxi to get home from hospital from surgery.it's all over fines I have that I can't pay I live on 858.00 a month I can't pay all that haven't drank in more than 20 years after all these years I still can't get a break.I can't even get to the drug.or grocery store please can you tell me if their is anything I can do??I'm very grateful for anything u could tell me.

You can ask the court that imposed the fines (and costs) to waive them, to reduce them, or to put you on a slow pay plan.

But your first step should be to go to the Tennessee Department of Safety Driver Services web site and

get a printout of why your license is suspended/revoked and what you must do to get it reinstated.

Most public libraries will be glad to help you look up the requirements and print them out (the printing may cost a dollar or so).

Then follow the steps.

You may have to show proof that you have attended a DUI school, or thet you were not sued over a car accident (or if you were sued, that it had been satisfied).

You will also have to get proof of insurance (and that is not cheap).

So you may want to calculate the costs of a car and don't be surprised if car ownership is not financially within youir reach.
