Name Change
How would someone go about correcting their surname on their birth certificate which is totally misspelled to whereas it reads as a whole different name. This person was born in the state of Mississippi and now resides in the state of TN.

Petition for a Name Change is made to Chancery Court. This is a verified petition that says under oath that the reason for doing so is not to perpetuate any fraud, or hide from any creditors. This can be done without a lawyer, but not recommended.
