Legal Question in Family Law in Tennessee

Name change

My wife wishes to change her name back to her

maiden name.(Deep family history). I have no

problem with this, however, if she acquires an

asset in her name only (ie:automobile), is that

considered a joint maritial asset?

What would be involved in proceeding with this change and approximate fees?

Thank you.

Re: Name change

She should have no problem changing her name, and the name change will have absolutely no effect whatsoever in Tennessee on whether assets are considered marital assets. The question there is how the asset was acquired, not whether you two share the same last name.
