Legal Question in Family Law in Tennessee

Juvenile Court Arrainment

My 17 year old has been friends with a girl at his high school and for some reason, her parents filed a petition against him in Juvenile Court. Apparently, I think, they think he was harrassing her. He jokingly talked about suicide, but they and his school took it seriously. We have an arraingment tomorrow at the court. Would we need a lawyer at this point? It's really frustrating because all her parents had to do is pick up the phone and talk to me about it and things could have been straightened out, but they didn't. Is there anything to worry about at this point. He'll be 18 this Friday.
