Legal Question in Family Law in Tennessee

what is needed to be emancipated in tennessee.

My girlfriend is pregnant with my baby, the pregnacy is a high risk one, and she wants out of her very stressful house. cause she is afraid she will lose the baby. They were abusive at one time to her. She does not have a job but i could get her one if she needed a job to show she had an income. She will be living with my grandma. What do we need to do? Do we need a lawyer or what? We don't have that much money and when we start this she will have to be emancipated or her mom will abuse her again untill she turns 18. she is 3 months away from being 18.

Re: what is needed to be emancipated in tennessee.

One would need to see a lawyer to draft the proper pleading. However, from a practical standpoint, she only has to wait three months to emancipate by operation of law. Additionally, she will need her family unit to help with the baby. She is going to be stressed, WHEREVER she lives with the high risk preganancy and pregancy in general. I would be careful not to alienate her family at this time. She WILL need them. Be mindful of the life-choices the both of you make at this juncture of your lives.

However, if she is bent on emancipation now, I can help. 423 266-4855
