Legal Question in Family Law in Tennessee

relinquishing rights

although my children are not up for adoption and the mother has not married, how can i go about relinquishing my rights to the children?

I have been paying my child support and still cannot do enough for the mother to let me see my children. I am tired of fighting, I am tired of spending money to try to get to see the children who don't want anything to do with me now because I have not been able to see them. How do I go about relinquishing all of my rights to the two boys?

Re: relinquishing rights

First, a father who pays child support has every right to visit with his children unless there are some very unusual circumstances.....I therefore would make every effort to enforce my visitation rights. Secondly, I do not know of any method whereby you can "relinquish" your parental rights to the children unless there is an adoption of the children. I think you would understand that the children are yours and are entitled to parental support (financial and otherwise) in order for them to grow up to be happy, well adjusted young adults. I suggst you look into having a court order entered enforcing your rights to visit with the children.
