Legal Question in Family Law in Tennessee

After being served with papers that you are being taken to court , what is the t

The State of TN gave us (grandparents)temporary custody of our 5-yr-old granddaughter July 1998- DCS stated ''for abandonment and abuse''. In Oct 2000 we were served papers that the mother was going to take us to court to prove that we ''poisoned the child's mind'' and she wanted to regain custody. In those papers the mother said that she was afraid we would leave with the child and we were ordered to not remove the child from the jurisidiction of the judge. We have lived in the same house for 14 years. In Jan. 2001 we gave a deposition. We have only heard that she can not make it to court. We have not left the area for any reason since. How long is this paper in effect?
