Real Property Damage due to water

My neighbor has built a pond that is leaking water into my property creating a swamp in my front yard.� To build the pond he built changed the drainage pattern, increase the height of his property by 36� above the natural grade of my property.� My question: what are my legal options?�

This is an area of the law known as riparian rights. Changing the grade of the property to raise his land above your land is a violation of your rights as a landowner and permits you to seek redress in the courts in order to remedy the situation that has been brought about by the alteration of the landscape to your detriment. You will, however, need a civil engineer to testify as an expert witness.
