immigration laws for adjustment of status in usa

is there any other way of having my husbands adjustment of status taken care of in the united states without him going back to his country of origin if his application was filed after 2001?

It really depends on whether he came in legally or not? You need to consult with an immigration atty and carry proof of the application, the approvals if any, and subsequent request from USCIS.
