Legal Question in Immigration Law in Tennessee

Marriage outside US. I-130 Form Petition for Alien Relative

I am an American married to a European citizen. We were married in France.

We Filed the I-130 form (Petition for Alien Relative) and have been told it could take years to process.

Question: What does the law say about my wife living with me in Tennessee, while waiting on her petition to be processed?

Is the myth true that as long as we are married, she can stay inside the US?

thank you for your time

Marrying a US citizen or filing I-130 alone does not authorize your wife to stay in the US.

Depending on when and how your wife entered the US, she may be eligible to file adjustment application in the US. If filed properly, the process can be very fast and she can obtain her permanent residence in several months.
