Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Tennessee

Who owns copyright Gustave Dore's Raven?

Hi!

I came across a gorgeous painting of Death sitting on the earth with a raven flying by entitled ''The Raven'' by Gustave Dore. It would make a fantastic environmental logo if I can only find who owns the copyright. It is not a part of The Raven manuscript by Poe, a version of which was illustrated by Dore, hence the problem.

If you need to see this painting, it can be found on artmagick.com site under Gustave Dore, or I will be more than happy to email it to you.

Thanks!

Re: Who owns copyright Gustave Dore's Raven?

Since Dore died 119 years ago, all his works are publice domain. Copyrights, at most, last for life plus 70 years. That would only get Dore to 1953, so his works have been public domain for at least 50 years.
