Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Tennessee

collection

we moved out of a apart. complex & we had our final walk through with the assist manager. Signed papers & said everything was fine. They said the would mail us the papers. 2 weeks later we get a letter stating that the carpet had to be replaced and wanted us to pay half. I have a returned checked stating paid in full and a letter states that it was all good when we moved out. They now have turned it over to collection and they are trying to force us to pay. I don't feel that we owe this. Should we pursue this in court or do we even have a case? How do I get this solved?

Re: collection

If there is a collection agency involved, you should check your credit report to make sure there are no adverse marks from this incident. It sounds like you have everything you need to defend any type of collection activity on their part. You should seek the advice of an attorney to look over everything to be sure. Please feel free to contact us with any other questions.
