Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Tennessee

Real property

My wife is in the process of purchasing a residential property in Tn, Davidson Cty.

The mortgage co. is requiring that I give my wife power of attorney to sign the deed with my signature. Even though I have nothng to do with the deal.

My question is: Is this requirement legally necessary?

Is it legal?

Re: Real property

If either you or your wife are going to occupy the property then your signature is required to obtain a loan.

This does not give you any rights nor take any away.
