Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Tennessee

rental contract law

What is the statute of limitation in the state of Tennessee for a rental contract. In July of 2002 I moved from an apartment I was renting. The Contract was for one year; I moved out in 6 months. My contract read that if tenant leaves property before contract period is up, then he/she forfeits his/her deposit. Again, I left in July of 2002, and this is almost two years later. Is there a statute of limitation on this? I haven't heard anything from them since about September of 2002, and I received a letter today from a collection agency. Please advise.
