Legal Question in Tax Law in Tennessee

Tax return

I got married last September but I didn't change my maiden's name so I don't carry my husband's last name. Do I have to change my name to be able to file our tax return as a married couple?

Thanks for your help

Re: Tax return

No. Returns should be filed under your legal names. Many years ago, there was at least anecdotal evidence that different names in a joint return would attract audit scrutiny, but this is no longer the case. Not that there was ever anything improper as long as both people filed under their legal names....
