Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Tennessee

My Will

I have excluded my daughter from my Will for my personal reasons. I have been told I should leave her a dollar. Is this true and can she contest the Will since I have specifically excluded her? How can I make sure she does not receive any of any money I have left or a part of my home, etc.?

Re: My Will

Under Tennessee law we are not required to leave an adult child any property. As long as as you acknowledged your daughter in your Will she can not validly contest based on an argument of "unsound mind" or "mental incompetence".

However, I would add a sentence in the Will that you are specifically excluding your daughter from receiving any property for reasons known to both she and you.

Under Tennessee law, we must all provide for our surviving spouse and minor children.
