Legal Question in Banking Law in Texas
my parents opened a checking acct. they listed me as a beneficiary on the account. they defaulted on the account and the bank is owed $900+. the bank is trying to collect from ME and sold the debt to a collection agency who put this on my credit report. i was NOT a user of this account and didn't sign a signature card or ANYTHING else @ the bank. i didnt even know this account existed until it showed up on my credit report as a debt.

Write a letter to the credit bureau (paper letter - don't use a telephone) and tell them what you told me. Demand that they remove this from your credit report. Give them a time deadline.
If they don't remove it, sue them for slander.
