Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Texas

If you filed bankruptcy over 10 years ago and now collection agencies are trying to collect on these accounts that was under the bankruptcy; is this legal? What is my recourse?

If you gave these creditors proper notice of your bankruptcy and these debts were actually discharged in the bankruptcy, you may be able to recover damages, penalties and attorney's fees from the agencies trying to collect these amounts pursuant to the Texas and the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Acts.
