Dealership Lawsuit

I have a friend that had an oil change done in November of last year and in January of this year her car siezed up on her. When she took it to the dealership the service advisor told her that she didn't have any oil in her car. The last oil change she had was at a different Ford Dealership down the street. They said that there is nothing they can do and that she would have to pay for the repair. She called the dealership she had the oil change done at and they said the same thing. So she is having to pay out of pocket to replace the engine. They still have the car to this day. Does she have a case??

Generally, when a company provides a service and fails to adequately complete that service or damages the owner's property due to negligence; then that service provider may be held liable for the damages.
